Kit Assembly
This kit is rated as easy, takes around an hour to make and is suitable for all ages. The only equipment needed to complete this kit is a soldering iron and a pair of flush cutters. A 2-3g pack of SAC305 Lead free solder is included – just enough to build your kit!
What Is A Cracklebox?
The disintegrated cracklebox is a noise maker type instrument where the player becomes part of the circuit by interacting with the touchpads. Experimentation really is key to getting the most out of it, using fingers spread over multiple touchpads to get new, interesting sounds.
Build Support
We are unable to provide individual customer support with kit building so please see the detailed assembly guide here to gauge difficulty before purchasing. Once started, kits cannot be refunded. We also have a handy soldering tutorial here!
Become one with the circuit..
Due to the nature of the beast, playing the Cracklebox requires practise to UNLEASH IT’S POTENTIAL! Because the user is part of the circuit, different people will get different results. Even touching someone who is playing the Cracklebox will effect the sound produced!

Prompt delivery, and a very easy build.
Great fun to play, but highly unpredictable sound which may not suit everyone.
Recommended for madcap noise adventures!

I bought two kits; One for myself, and one for my 7 year-old nephew.
He and I assembled the kit together which I treated as a learning experience for him. Together we scrutinised the resistor color codes to determine their value, and he got to scan the board looking for the appropriate footprints to install them into. He got to install all the transistors, and later feed the solder into the joints while I held the iron in place.
Once the kit was fully assembled, he declared his intent to use the CrackleBox to wake his mother in the morning. She has since reported to me that his intentions were carried out, and she thanked me in a deadpan voice. Somehow I have suspicions as to her sincerity.
